Dreamwidth Tools
Sup S72,
So after fucking up my mental link HTML for the millionth time, I decided to just... modify Dreamwidth Tools to do all the work for me. If you too would like to just have a button do that particular bit of HTML for you, here are the instructions.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yt96tffrh9utz13/bldhncjmecnkemlfebgpehigfdbihhnd.zip?dl=0
Download and unpack this zip file, put it somewhere convenient for you.
Then,
Using the modified version of the extension.
Visit the Chrome extension page (chrome://extensions/).
Enable Developer mode, by putting a check on the checkbox in the upper-right corner.
Click on the "Load unpacked extension" button.
Select the folder of your extension.
Confirm. You're done.
(directions from here)
If you're already using the original Dreamwidth Tools, you'll need to uninstall or disable it, or your buttons will double up.
This will both insert an empty version of as well as insert it around text you've already typed if you highlight it and then click the button.
Final note, I didn't add this to the Dreamwidth Tools popup window because I am lazy, but if you find yourself needing that functionality, let me know...
I honestly have no idea if this works for other browsers, sorry non-Chrome users?

(One thing I'll note is that it doesn't like to add a phrase onto a line that already has text. I usually just return down, add it, then move it where I want it.)
