     CONCORDIA, DAY :008 - :013

Concordian life has continued much like it has. The rally was the largest gathering of anti-AI and anti-enhancement sentiment in the past weeks, but there's been a typically steady stream of smaller, less focused aggressions. A city maintenance android was beaten by a group of drunken men until rendered non-functional. A local chapter of Mindlife in the Gamma Block had a makeshift firebomb thrown at its front door, resulting in minimal damage to the exterior. All things considered, it's standard fare. But on :010 something bigger happens.

Around 11:30pm, the largest manufacturing plant for VEN DIAGRAMS, one of Opia's leading developers and manufacturers of personal implants and mental augmentation, is bombed. The bomb goes off far enough into the building to do serious structural damage. Futher, the bomb sends out a pulse of electrical feedback that fries all the cores of the chips being manufactured and stored within the factory. The explosion is the largest the city has seen in fifteen years; it shakes nearby structures, bringing down a large section of a neighboring warehouse in the process. Over fifty androids are destroyed or rendered scrappable and three men passing by on their way from a local club sustain minor injuries.

No one claims responsibility, but it’s hard to imagine that it could be anyone but Humans + Humans 1st. The bomb was planted deep in the factory which ran 24 hours a day, no one had heard a single rumor on the net about an attack, and not a single ‘person’ died. Not that the answer satisfies everyone of course. There's already conspiracies on extraspace saying that synthetics somehow overstepped their programming and planted the bomb to drop suspicion on H+H1; or maybe it was one of Ven's many competitors using the political unease as cover to finally chip into Ven's significant profit margins. Ahtaliah Ven himself is determined to find the culprit, going as far as to offer a reward for any information on a public extraspace channel not ten hours after the attack. Extraspace is buzzing with chatter, the realspace around the factory is being actively patrolled by bio-officers and synthetic security drones alike. Ven has a lot of rivals, a lot of competitors - people with means and motivation. Could it be as simple as a shady anti-synth organization, or are there other powers at play here?

In the days that follow, anti-synth sentiment spikes. Derogatory graffiti litters bullet train platforms, local small business operated primarily by bios force synthetics on errands to wait on the street for their goods, a minor string of AI scrambling occurs which primarily targeting private transit driver androids, and there's some spririted (read: vicious) debate on political affiliate extraspace channels. A speech by the REPRESENTATIVE GORAM SAFFIT OF LARANN goes live on extraspace 24 hours after the attack, which promptly spurs harsh criticism by local chapters of Mindlife and numerous anonymous viral videos and transcripts attributed to the group known as EXTRAAA threatening Larann and swearing to track down and dissolve H+H1. In response to all of this, police security makes raids into Subspace in hopes that cracking down on minor attacks might dredge up some additional information on who may have been behind the factory bombing.


     IN OTHER NEWS...

All three men who sustained minor injuries in the factory explosion spend at least a day in local hospitals. After 24 hours, two of the three go home; one man remains under observation for a three day period thanks to some shrapnel from the blast. Theoretically speaking, it wouldn't be difficult to track any of these men down.

Despite the bombing, a sporting event is scheduled for :013 and parts of Concordia are All About It. Why bother talking about political bombings when you could be talking about Zero-Ball? The sport is seemingly an unholy combination of rugby and basketball and hitting the game might be a good place to unwind after a long, keyed up series of days.

Speaking of sports and popular figures, Kun Adetokunbo - the fan favorite for the upcoming BOUT IT OUT championships - makes a vague but difficult to misunderstand pro-synthetic statement during a press conference in the days that follow the bombing. While his popularity in the betting pools don't dip, there's some definite gossip flying around on extraspace and in public broadcasts. A series of comments on an online video clip of his statement range from thoughtful to 'ROBOT F**KR'.

Some minor crimes have been automatically pinged to certain IDs carried by individuals of the Nest; luckily, no one's pressing charges on either Steve Rogers or James Barnes (you can get away with a lot in Subspace), but it might be a good idea to not punch anyone else in the throat. Or do. Whatever. The important thing to know is that these tags are pretty much automated and aren't a huge deal unless you get caught doing something else... or find yourself in the subspace security sweeps going on.

OOC UPDATES

Hey all! So you may have noticed we've decided to overhaul the calendar idea a little bit; we found that a traditional month-to-month calendar system felt a) kind of useless, given the only solid date we have for OOC things is activity check and that's pretty easy to find, a b) antithetical to what we want to focus on for in character game events, which is a focus on player character action influencing the world. To this end, we've decided instead to give weekly to bi-weekly world updates reflecting player character involvement and the effects on the world/plot/etc as opposed to a long term calendar. While we tentatively plan to make these posts once a week or so, in-game events may make them more or less frequent depending on need. If you have any thoughts, questions or concerns about this format please don't hesitate to give us feedback either here or on the mod contact page! That said, we're hoping this gives us all a little more flexibility/freedom to explore.

Otherwise, while we have a small backlog of questions that need answering on the first mission post that we still need to address, if you have any questions about investigating or exploring information detailed in this current events post go ahead and put it here. Jen ( frakkincylons ) brought this up -! If there's anything your character has been setting up around the common area of the Bearings, if they're a sleepwalker or wear footy pajamas in public or if they've opted to stay somewhere else entirely, let us know so we can mock and/or be concerned!

Steve comes and goes from the Bearings but he doesn't sleep there:

- Late on 006 he got into a scuffle in Subspace with three miscreants while he was tracking down his coworker, tragic zamboni victim James Barnes

- He's been sleeping in Subspace since then because Barnes refuses to come back to the Bearings for the moment. Steve does return to the Bearings pretty often to shower and keep whatever valuables he has in a place where they're less likely to be stolen.

- Because he's been flagged for violent activity, he's started keeping a low profile in general around the city, but as far as other Hosts he's not attempting to hide his comings and goings or why he's been flagged. He's responsive to mental link communication while he's out. He'll seem a little more harried than usual.

This is a question I will be asking on every mission from here on out, but I forgot to ask sooner—

Are there libraries in Concordia? Mostly, Lexa will be looking into history and the evolution of ideals in these books. She will (likely???) have learned about how to handle ebooks by now, as I assume that's how things are checked out in this world. Political things and so forth are what she'll be looking into. I can be more specific if needed!

A non-comprehensive list of things Anakin Skywalker does:

• If y'all thought he was attached to Ahsoka on the station, lol. lol. Either he's somewhere near or he's keeping an open mental link. Say anything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
• Anakin brings back food for himself and Ahsoka, but there's generally plenty of it and, in Jedi form, it's left to share for whomever needs a snack at midnight. You're all welcome.
• Scrappy is a droid he pieced together on the station from, you guessed it, scrap. He refuses to call it by name because he doesn't like it. Scrappy loves him, though. It also likes attention, feeling useful, wearing hats and rolling after people in Bearings hoping to be made useful. At this point it has two functional arms, a camera and looks like a squashed box on wheels. ( Its name is very fitting ok. )
• Clothing does not vary much. He wears what is basically the same outfit and favors dark colors ( not quite black, but definitely dark. ) Asking him to incorporate colors or change up his look will be met with judgment.
• Anakin keeps largely to himself although stop him for questions, company going out or for help with whatever and he will be generally cooperative.
• Anakin is aggressively a morning person. He is up long before dawn. Without fail. Or maybe he just doesn't sleep. Further study necessary.
• Sorry, he has no idea what the fuck is wrong with his brood. Yes, you should be thankful they're not your brood.

A few things for Lexa:

- Lexa's room definitely looks like a forest. There's very little that's special about it, but since she can do it artificially there are candles set up all over.

- Her food preferences are largely meat platters with starches thrown in. I am certain that that this looks unhealthy and that she sometimes eats a bit messily. Also, I think she has to eat milder foods or things that are salted/peppered/smoked versus things that are spicy/very flavorful. Too many spices or acids probably upset her stomach still.

- She has very pretty nightgowns and probably (definitely) walks around in them, sometimes at strange hours because the Commanders in her chip might want to have talks with her. She's always barefoot when in a nightgown.

- Though she does have these bouts of chip-related insomnia, she doesn't go out at those times due to caution. She fears that her discomfort with such a high technology world will stand out more.

- Despite being someone who is from a world full of bad things that have happened, she definitely prioritized beefing up her wardrobe as quickly as possible. I ... have a fashion inspiration page for an idea of stuff she wears (nightgowns are worn as nightgowns, etc.). Look, sometimes you get bored during the work day, okay. (Also, Lexa really does like pretty clothes. She has makeup too.)

- She reads in the commons area a lot, likely between books she's brought from the Station or books she's found here (depending what form they're in).

- People might find her testing technology to see how it works. Sometimes "testing technology" means pushing random buttons or making the toaster go off without any bread inside of it. She's a lot more competent than she was when she first arrived at the Station, but she's getting there.

Oh you crazy kids.

Security sweeps occur, on average, every eight hours or so in different sections of subspace. Subspace is, really, a sprawling series of boroughs, neighborhoods and undergrounds and most of these security sweeps hit up only a few blocks at a time. With a little cleverness, it would be pretty easy to move from place to place and stay relatively ahead of the patrols. For what it's worth, there's a lot of petty crime in Subspace. Despite the fact that Bucky and Steve are both tagged as potentially violent, they're only two out of many people with similar tags on their IDs.

Alternatively... it would also be fairly easy to walk straight into a security sweep on purpose. If for some reason someone wanted to do that.

There aren't traditional libraries. Being a citizen of Concordia gives you access to the Concordia Library Database, which is accessible through the net from anywhere and gives you the access to their full collection. You can only be actively reading five titles at once, and your access to them runs out after a two week period, after which you have to re-access them. You can only access a book for up to five two-week sessions a year, to encourage you to purchase your favorite title. Security is very tight, illegally downloading a copy and keeping the books yourself would be incredibly difficult.

While they don't have libraries in a traditional sense, they do have are quiet public areas- think a combination between a study area and an indoor park. They usually have a small cafe, a number of chairs, benches, and couches, and a children's area for story times and small shows. They are libraries in every sense except there are no books in them.

Otherwise, physical books can be found in old shops, as they're basically antiques. You can also purchase digital books that are stored in your own system from any number of stores, both in the real and digital realms.

> both Sam and Angel have set up a sort of tech/net commander center at the couch in the commons room. they've pulled over little end/coffee tables and set up about 4 big holographic screens, and they're basically constantly roaming the net for information, so if your person has something they want to look into but isn't that tech savvy, come as sam and he'll look for it. not really hacking anything as of yet (will be doing a few things tho), but he can find you all the info available on the net on X thing or X person in like 10 seconds.

> that also means angel and sam are semi permanently camped out there, so feel free to say your dude sees them p much any time they walk through the commons area, either working, or eating junk food (there's a small mountain of take out and chips and snacks forming on Angel's side, mostly, but sam is def helping).

> hybrid state is gd loud, and sam's using it a lot here, so before starting each one, he's definitely shouted out a warning for "if you can block my mind out from yours, do that now. if not, leave the building for a moment please." because, otherwise, your brain might implode and no one wants that. he'll also be babbling prophetic stuff and has a chance to baby stuff about your dude, so there a permissions for that too

Some odds and ends for Bellamy:

• There is so. much. food. Bellamy's really taken aback by the sheer quantity. He's slowly sampling things more or less at random because he doesn't really know what he likes yet, but he can't eat very much in one sitting, or very much rich/spicy stuff full stop without making himself sick.

• That being said, he has sampled the booze. It is better than Monty's moonshine, thanks Sam.

• He sleeps very, very poorly, so the pattern tends to be reach peak exhaustion levels and then drop off. His dreams are Not Great.

• Every time he goes out into the city he comes back with a few more pieces of clothing, but he always wears his worn-out Ark guard jacket. He tends towards really simple pieces, mostly dark-colored with a few exceptions for blues and tans.

• He also bought a pair of really soft fleece sweatpants which he clearly thinks is the ultimate indulgence.

• He reads a lot. Once he figures out how to access books, that's all he's doing. He's also going to be scrounging in antique stores for paper copies of things. His reading selections tend towards history, philosophy and fiction.

• He will mostly read in his room with the door open, but can be found in the common area at odd hours depending on what's going on with his sleep schedule/how many or few people are also in the common area. If there's too many people around he will migrate back to his room.

• Also he is avoiding Lexa while trying not to be obvious about the fact that he is avoiding Lexa.

• He hasn't made any decorative modifications to his room. Sometimes he cues up the sound of rain, but otherwise he isn't using that feature at all.

• Takes a lot of showers, more than is probably necessary. His hair is still always a goddamn mess.

Ah Sam, Aoba might need some space on that couch. Angel is one of his last remaining broodmates, and after Ares goes, he'll be sticking to her closely. So if she's into this operation on the couch with Sam, Aoba will be frequenting that area as well. He doesn't mind being designated food runner, and can help with setting up any hardware they might need and monitoring the monitors. He's tech savvy, though not nearly as impressive as his broodmate.

- After customizing it, Aoba's room is very blue. He has a thing for cyan. There's nothing else remarkable about it, and he keeps it about as neat as an average 23 year old who used to live with his grandma would.

- During any downtime, or sometimes just late at night, he can be found in his room on extraspace playing Bout it Out. When he's playing he doesn't seem to want to be disturbed, and there's a significant lack of his usual headaches. If anyone mentions it, he'll act like he genuinely has no idea what they're talking about - he doesn't play virtual reality games anymore.

- The clothes he's picked to blend in are about as hideous as the ones he wears back on the station, but somehow his sense of style matches a little too well with what's fashionable here. It's weird. He can probably walk almost anywhere and not look the slightest bit strange.

- After losing Ares, he's keeping his mind very open to his last remaining broodmates, checking in and keeping tabs since he's worried about them. He'll also be sticking near them whenever he can, especially Angel. That probably also means being babbysitter for Petre... please don't light anything on fire here.

- He's walked up to Nirad's room several times in the last few days, raised his hand to knock, and then shuffled off to his room with a red face.

If there's money or betting involved in Bout It Out, would it be alright to assume Aoba finds some mysterious extra funds to his name? Since he's not being so liberal with his medication, Sly Blue is taking advantage and playing some rounds while Aoba thinks he's sleeping. He's also... quite good. Rhyme is pretty similar, and he was the best of the in his canon. How long would it take him to start ranking if he were playing for 2-3 hours each night?

Yo mods, rolling back the clock I thought I'd ask a quick question about the rally, mostly that as per this thread Ren's been actively scanning the rally-goers via the Force in search of any viable leads or potential ties to H+H1. It's fine if he turns up nothing or some dead-end suspects, but it seemed like something worth checking into!

Kylo Ren isn't difficult to track via either the brood link or the echo of the Force, but visually he's keeping a low profile: dark clothes, leaves his room only early in the morning or exceedingly late at night when few people are around, and shockingly, hasn't assaulted or maimed anyone since arriving. Where's his goddamn gold star.
