new kid on the block
Howdy, kids! I'm Sae bringing in Joseph Kavinsky from The Raven Cycle. It's a 4 book series (about to have a trilogy sequel) about loser rich kids in Virginia trying to find the grave of a Welsh king or some shit. But never mind that, Kavinsky isn't useful toward that overarching plot at all. He's just here to set things on fire.
Nah, seriously, Kavinsky is kind of awful and goes full yandere for one of TRC's main boys. On the plus side, he throws a great party and seems to be down for any kinda 'substance' that might show up! On the downside, he can create objects in his dreams, take them out of his dreams, and sometimes those objects are body doubles to replace people he's killed. Haha, but he probably won't do that here! Probably. But seriously Kavinsky's kinda insane and when he gets attached to someone he's not very respectful of boundaries, so please visit his permissions post and let me know if you'd like to opt-out in any way! Oh, and here's his mental link if that's helpful to anyone. It took me ten years because I'm bad at visualosity things.

On the other hand, I have only read The Raven Cycle. I'll admit I was initially drawn to it because I was told it had queer characters (Kavinsky being one of them) and I wanted to support that, but Stiefvater's writing was fantastic and kept me invested. Plot gets a bit loosey-goosey later in, and The Dream Thieves (book two, Kavinsky's prominent part) was my favorite (I am not biased okay), but overall a really good read. I highly suggest it. (But srsly Dream Thieves is the best book of the four.)

It's honestly a very neat power, though between him and the other character who has the same power, he is the dick using it for selfish purposes. Because he can. I haven't read the Raven Cycle yet but I've got a few people on my timeline who play from it and it always sounds super interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing how Kavinsky and Sam end up bouncing off each other, especially since Sam is super big on consent but also sometimes too willing to make friends with not super awesome people.

i love trc a whole lot (i play gansey in another game!) and kavinsky was such a great and beautiful disaster child. he was easily one of my favourite parts of dream thieves.
