OOC UPDATES
Happy holidays everyone! We hope everyone is enjoying their respective end of year holidays (or isn't too stressed from the running around these things generally require). Safe travels if you're off somewhere and thanks for spending your time here with us in Station 72. Tis the season for mushy fondness, but we want to say how much we appreciate your constant enthusiasm for the game.
As a reminder, December is a check in month for AC. The only exception to that is if you're a new player or if you have a strike to clear (in which case you just have to have 15 comments for the month). Let us know if you have any questions etc.
Also! Thanks to Melissa for making our taken page more useful. It now lists all host abilities and broods; we'll still have the current broods page for additional details, but this should be a better at-a-glance tool for everyone (including us). Thanks Melissa; you're a peach. :')
CALENDAR OVERVIEW
December 10th - January 6th
DAY :028 - :034
       DAY :028
• The Sea Comes In - The blood red water at the coast turns a lovely, bioluminescent lavender thanks to the brish migration. A gong sounds. All the small craft in the sea are run in off the water and don't go out again. A great bonfire is lit on the highest cliff around the city that burns day and night for the rest of the time spent on the coast.
• [DROPS] Seviilia slips into a coma during the night.
       DAY :029 - DAY :032
• The lavender color of the sea shifts deeper and denser. Lookouts are posted on the high cliffs and on the beaches - but for now it's still and quiet and waiting.
• Keya, the Descendant rescued by Lavellan during the barithian hunt, has been making her mark: she's been talking about the Pilgrimage as a potential stage to broker a peace between the warring envoys. Whether anyone's listening is uncertain, but people have apparently been hearing her just fine.
• Speaking of gossip: be mindful when you're out at night. The rumor of someone being attacked might be nothing more than bad luck at the edge of the wilderness, but this pilgrimage has been plagued with an unfortunate history of, uh, murder. It doesn't hurt to be careful.
       DAY :033
• A cry comes from one of the cliff lookouts: cresting was spotted far out to sea. The first garstall has finally been spotted.
       DAY :034
• Pieces of disassembled ships are carried out from long houses along the shores and docks. Sections of shells that will make up much larger boats than those that the Hosts have become accustomed to here are brought out of storage, and the people of the Red Coast set to re-assembling the lightweight, strong woven shells into the vessels they will need to hunt the Gastrall. Anyone is invited to help them prepare; the boat assembly is a vibrant work party, punctuated with music and laughter and the loving garlanding of the gastralling boats in sea grasses and shells.NOTE: No mod-driven logs will be posted for these events, however we'll be around to NPC and threadjack. Feel free to backdate and/or forward date however you please. If you have something character-driven that you want added, please let us know on the CALENDAR ADDITIONS thread below.

what up
How are the Garstall hunted? Is there a "traditional" method or manner of weaponry, and how easily could someone procure such things?

The locals are more than happy to talk about the hunt, which seems to be happening in the very near future. Because the boats are large and the Garstall are active, the smaller boats have been brought out of the water and off of the docks during this time for both space and safety reasons. The spears are all held in locked glass displays in one of the more ceremonial looking boat shacks. While it would be possible to get access to them, it wouldn't be particularly easy at the moment as ever since the Garstall have been spotted Hyrypians have been out at all hours working. If he should wish to pursue getting of one of the spears that is possible, but he will not be able to steal (or sail) one of the larger boats. If he manages to get a smaller boat to the water, it will capsize when manned solely by an inexperienced person (especially with the Garstall active in the waves).

He'd rather not tackle a big monster alone OR steal (which is against the hero code!!), so is there a way to use what prestige the Carbauschians have gained + a demonstration of his own physical prowess to earn his way onto a big boat? If he can, is there any word what sort of prestige comes from the hunt? He's primarily looking to... uh, "befriend" some salty hunter-sailors and get on the ins with them.

shhhhh don't punch his tender ego let him think he's doing something beneficialc r u s h h i mBeautiful. He's definitely going to cozy up to the cool Gastrall hunters, especially that ocean grandpa and take as much time prior to the hunt to make sure he knows how to, you know, actually function effectively among them all. He wants to be the #1 pilgrimage visitor on their mind when it comes time to ship out and will do so by showing a lot of youthful determination to Learn Things.
he'll learn all the cuss words just you watch
