OOC + IC UPDATES

HOLD IT! Before we get to the fun and exciting task of AC, we have two important updates for you!

First, some drops. On the final day of Avera 9 Adam Parker will be killed by a bounty hunter. This will happen roughly midday with approximately two hours until the mandatory evacuation of the planet; if characters wish to recover the body or do any investigation, please direct questions to the QUESTIONS thread in the Avera 9 pt.II OOC post. For ADARA BROOD, be aware that your characters will instantaneously be aware of Parker's death. Though manifestation of the awareness can vary from person to person, it feels like having something cut out. It isn't pleasant. In the hours/days/weeks/etc that follow, the place where Parker's link once was will feel empty and raw; though this may gentle with time, the 'phantom limb' symptoms of feeling something that isn't there anymore will never fully go away. ALL OTHER CHARACTERS outside of Adara brood will also be aware that something is wrong at the time of Parker's death, but unable to clearly pinpoint what the source of the sensation is. They will also experience a vague sensation of having forgotten something important, but this sensation will fade over the next few days and eventually be largely negligible.

Bad news apparently comes in pairs. Shortly after returning to the Station, Anduin Wrynn slips into some kind of coma. Though it's not completely dissimilar from the sleeping beauty nap Anakin Skywalker's been taking, Anduin won't be waking up from this one; while characters who go into a coma for hiatus purposes still retain their mental link, it's clear that something deeper is wrong here. SHAULA BROOD will find their mental link with Anduin has been somehow severed; there's no notable pain associated with it, but there's a definite sensation of something missing. Anduin's body will be stored in one of the nesting deck chambers and reconnected to the Station. Though still technically alive, it seems his mind is in some kind of stasis.

As a last note, we've made some adjustments to the drop mechanics of the game. Originally we had an option for characters to go an away missions when dropped, but we felt for the time being that was unrealistic given certain IC constraints - namely that at present most hosts have very little away mission experience. For now, we've changed it so that dropping a character either results in a permanent coma state (this character can be re-apped) or having the character killed (this character cannot be re-apped by the same player). In the future when the IC constraints have been lifted, we hope to re-implement the away mission mechanic!

AC CHECK - March to April

Hey all and welcome to the very first Activity Check of Station 72! (boo hiss etc) This check covers tags made from March 20th to April 19th. As a reminder, to pass AC you must have:

At least thirty (30) comments from you across two to five threads, including Mental Link boxes.

Any combination (15+5+10; 10+5+8+7; 15+15, etc) is suitable as long as you reach the total required comment count.

All players are required to respond to this post by 11:59 PST on April 25th. Anyone who doesn't respond will be added to the AC warning list and have 24 hours to respond before being automatically dropped from the game. If you can't make AC this round, please reply to this post to request a strike. If you take a strike this month, you'll be required to turn in a total of 40 comments across up to 6 threads during the next AC check to clear the strike and pass AC.

New Players (Amber and Noodles!) aren't required to meet the comment count, but please reply here anyway as a check in.

Would linking a toplevel suffice/count as one giant thread?

Yup, that works! Toplevels are kind of tricky and can be used either as one thread or as multiples. Basically we just want to make sure you're tagging around/actively; If you intend to use a toplevel as the entirety of your AC proofs, just make sure you've played with at least two different people branching off from the toplevel.

Thank you! If there's a few comment dates that precede the 3/20 cutoff, would you want those threads nested/broken off from the toplevel to highlight them so it's less parsing or is just dumping the toplevel link ok?

Eh, just dumping the toplevel is fine for the time being. It might be different if we had to check 200 AC comments, but we can afford to let everyone be lazy.
