CURRENT EVENTS
CONCORDIA, DAY :025 - :032
The media monster is in full swing in the days following the bombing at the Royal Gaming Parlor. If the bombing at the Ven Diagrams warehouse was enough to kick off a bunch of public furor, this has been that times five. All the usual suspects are on parade: REPRESENTATIVE GORAM SAFFIT OF LARANN has addressed his constituents and the public at large with another message decrying violence and pushing for synthetic regulations; Mind Life has stubbornly published multiple statements similarly discouraging violent protest with the insistence that the only way to head off these attacks is to recognize and understand that the synthetic experience as valuable; Public Security has been in force throughout all blocks of the city, though it again seems like they don’t have many leads to follow. In fact, a large percentage of both media coverage and extranet public opinion has started to take not so subtle stabs at the Public Security Commissioner, Seong-Hye Ngozi. Is she dealing with this threat as effectively as she could be? Is there perhaps a better way to track down the people perpetuating these attacks?
Public Security raids in Subspace has gotten more aggressive and many low-level clubs popular among the young technophile crowds have been all but gutted by security sweeps; there’s a sweeping sense of paranoia among many of the denizens of the underground - no, most of them probably have nothing to do with H+H1 or EXTRAAA, but a lot of them have less than clean records and that’s apparently the only excuse Security needs right now to take people in.
If there’s one good (??) thing to say about all this, it’s that the anti-synthetic sentiment in Concordia has slaked slightly in the days following the attack; most people don’t really mind if androids or chips get blown up, but if these rumored biochauvanist are targeting androids in public venues then that means putting actual lives in danger. Everyone - Goram Saffit, Mind Life, and Public Security - seems united in the sentiment that attacks like this are simply unacceptable; no matter what ideology is being fought for, ending (organic) lives is the wrong way to go about it.
In the meantime, there’s plenty to dig into and the Hosts won’t have to do it alone - one DAY 25, a new batch of hosts wake up back on the Station… including one old friend (welcome back to the land of the living, Jessica Jones). They’ll be arriving on Concordia just after dark on day 26.IN OTHER NEWS... Angel will fall into a coma on day 25. Keep your fingers crossed that she wakes back up! Private security employment and integration has risen by 7%; it turns out that tragedy is great for select wedges of the Concordian economy. Many companies looking to protect their androids have increased security protocols on their units. Casual interaction with corporate androids has gotten more difficult to obtain; most service droids (cab drivers, garbage units, etc) won’t engage in conversation with a stranger unless it’s required to complete their assigned tasks. With the increased security sweeps along Subspace, any host with a flag on their security profile will want to be very, very vigilant and extra careful not to get stopped by Public Security. It’s incredibly possible that they might get taken in for questioning if they get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. A candelight vigil is being planned outside the Royal Street Parlor (currently closed for renovations) on DAY 31; it’s very likely that a number of public figures will be in attendance. In the wake of the Royal Street Parlor bombing, Kun-Kun’s public support has somewhat increased. He’s still getting called a ROBOT FKR in the comment section of videos, but there’s more of a ‘Can you not?’ sentiment in response. Public Security will release Anakin Skywalker’s remains from the morgue on Day 29. OOH-LA-LA! You thought some game parlor bombing was dramatic? You won't believe how much more compelling it can get! According to local tabloids, Saffron (a rising star of the stage; if you don't know her, then where have you been?) was spotted on the arm of one of the hunkier Bout It Out contenders at the parlor just before the explosion. Hopefully they're both okay! :''''(
TIMELINE OF EVENTS
DAY :025 (August 14-15) - Angel slips into a coma. The new Hosts wake up on the station to a brave new world.
DAY :026 (August 16-17) - All of the Hosts make it down to Concordia to meet up with their new forced-family.
DAY :027 (August 18-19) - The Host’s combined snooping around has lead to something, as a representative (or multiple representatives?) from EXTRAAA connects to everyone. This log will go up on the 14th, but in-character this contact will only last for approximately one hour on Day 27. Get your tagging in early, because all mod-responses to this post will stop end of day 8/19.
DAY ??? - Kun-Kun’s reps will contact the hosts to organize a meeting with Mind Life’s Sheena Frey; the in-character date on this will depend on host response. There WILL be a log posted for the events of Day :025-026, as well as a log for EXTRAAA’s contact on Day :027. All other IC logs (including any IC plotting and planning) may be player organized/initiated.
OOC UPDATES
Hi again guys! We want to take a second to thank you guys again for being so great, and for really taking this explosion plot and running with it. There have been a lot of great ideas and IC action happening in the aftermath, including some exciting player-plotesque initiatives; we’ve purposefully kept this calendar light to give space for you guys to slot in your plots and plans accordingly. If you have something that you feel have a larger scope - big open logs, mini-player plots, etc - that you’d like to put on the timeline, go ahead and comment in the appropriate subthread below and we’ll edit it in.
Further, this is a casual reminder for new and old players that if your character is using a fake ID on Concordia, we have a place for you to dump info about them (complete with an excellently ridiculous randomizer - thanks Avali!) over HERE.
As a small side note, we wanted to mention that we’ve made a policy adjustment when it comes to re-apping a dropped character back into a capped cast. We’ll be accepting re-apps into capped casts as long as the character has been dropped from the game for at least two months. This policy may change in the future if we feel the game is becoming unbalanced, but for now this seems like it should work. Be aware that other than re-apps, the MCU and Star Wars casts are currently capped and accepting no new applicants. Additionally, we’re getting close to the game cap?! COOL.
Last but not least, during the application period we made reference to characters feeling incomplete if they belonged to incomplete broods. Just kidding! Due to recent apps trends, all broods are full (or as full as they're gonna get anyway; some of you have some dead weight. GET IT).
As always, feel free to use this space to plot and plan; if you have any questions for us, don’t hesitate to ask them below if they’re related to current events and plots, or on the FAQ or the MOD CONTACT posts if they’re more general!

We have a few characters talking about going to that vigil on Day 31, so - would they run into anything of interest there, assuming they're just keeping a low profile and taking it all in? In particular, are any public figures of interest going to be speaking, and if so, would anything be pinging Sam's bullshit detector powers?
no subject
The hosts will be few in a throng of relatively peaceful people. Most people in attendance are younger (30s and below) and a proportionally large number of them have some kind of physical modification, though most are relatively low-profile mods. There's also a small contingent of androids in attendance.
A low platform has been erected in front of the Royal Street Gaming Parlor and the speakers for the vigil either stand on it or, as is the case with some more high profile appearances, they speak across an extranet connection via a holoscreen projected onto the Parlor itself. For the most part the speakers are small time: a few workers from a small local chapter of Mind Life (accompanied by a few skittish looking androids), a beta block councilwoman, a Mother and Sister from a nearby Church of Lirinity. Most of them have nothing more than words of support and condolence and seem to be perfectly legitimate according to Sam's BS detector. The notable exception comes somewhere close to the middle of the vigil when Seong-Hye Ngazi, the Public Security Commissioner for Concordia, speaks via extranet connection. She seems somber, competent, but also confident. There's nothing immediately strange about her statements - it also includes condolences for the losses, regret for the circumstances of the attack, etc -, but when she starts to talk about Public Security's dedication to finding the party responsible for the attack something...seems...strange.
Otherwise: it's your fairly standard memorial gathering. Poems are read, some tears are shed, there are some people with signs and a small contingent of rabble rousers on the fringe of the gathering that quickly get chased off by Public Security, etc. You're welcome to create and interact with your own NPCs if you feel so inclined!
All this said and done, we'd definitely encourage putting up a mingle log if it seems like a couple of players are interested in making the trip; who knows what other adventures additional threading might turn up....... waggles eyebrows

No for real, feel free to use your imagination and have Giorno come away with whatever. - small pieces of tech, credit cards, data chips, weird handheld gaming devices etc. Most data chips are going to have some really boring run of the mill personal data on it - photos, messaging logs, etc.
That said keys aren't very common in Concordia (most home/work/etc security is built into a Concordian's personal ID).

Due to Sam Alexander letting all the hosts know that something is up with Ngazi, there have been talks on how to approach this. Bruce, being... himself, thinks that potentially breaking into her office to see if there's any clues to clarify why she may be lying, and what specifically she's lying about, may be a good idea. (Aforementioned post is here for reference.)
Whether or not this is actually a good idea can remain to be seen. What I'm wondering is if this is something viable for Bruce to do, given the building's security. (Which he would make an attempt to scope out the best he can beforehand, I would assume.) Would he be able to do this, and are there any security weaknesses in the building that would allow him to break in and sneak into her office, etc? Would he need to employ a hacker to get past any cyber security or cameras and the like? Things like that.
If this is possible, I would want to talk about what he would find (if anything), and if he would be able to escape without problem, or at least without being identified. But I figured this is something that I should ask first before I jump to any conclusions!
Thanks!

Second: This is definitely something that you're welcome to pursue (for good or for ill). It's also completely insane but that might work in Bruce's favor. Because breaking into the commission of public security's office is so patently bonkers, it's very possible that airtight security of the Public Security offices isn't as ironclad on Ngozi's office proper. Walking into the private sectors of the building would be incredibly difficult, but there may be other alternatives to accessing Public Security's office space.
The public sectors of the building log both the digital IDs and the faces of anyone who enters and exits. Hosts are wearing tech that scrambles the facial recognition technology of Concordian security feeds, meaning that computers won't be able to log Bruce's appearance but anyone physically present might be able to recognize/describe him etc. It might be prudent for him to wear some kind of disguise or body modification. Further, it's possible for a host to remove their earpiece - this means they'd lose their connection to Concordian security systems and the facial tech scrambler, but they'd also theoretically be invisible to most basic Concordian logging systems. Because 99.9% of the Concordian population has a built in digital identity, most security systems rely on that chip pinging off the local systems to identify, place and track individuals's movements.
While Bruce won't be able to determine in advance for sure what kind of security might be waiting in the private sectors of Public Security's HQ, here's a list of possible tech and common security features on the market:
Additionally, since Bruce is likely to be doing some advance investigation of the HQ and the area around here, here's some things you might want to know/utilize:
In general, the fast and loose idea that we like to play by is: if you want to do something, let's do it. If you have an idea on how to accomplish this/trouble you want to get your character into/a workaround for how to avoid detection etc, then we're happy to incorporate that. You mentioned the possibility of hiring a hacker - great idea, especially considering the fact that a few other characters have local hacker contacts etc. Basically, we're down to roll if you are and are here to help facilitate your storytelling however we can (even if it means throwing a couple of curveballs in your direction etc). We strongly encourage you to pursue this if you feel it's IC and recommend networking with your fellow players (ICly or OOCly) because we suspect a few of them might have some resources useful to you, whether or not their characters would ICly choose to become involved etc.
All this said and done, if you feel like you need additional help or ideas from us on how to flesh out an approach toward this don't hesitate to ask! We have some possibilities, but don't want you to feel like you're required to do things our way to accomplish your goals. Be free! Make cool stuff!

He's also going to do some digging on Ven and any major scandals the company has had since it's creation.

In terms of Ngozi herself, her public appearances are largely to address crime and security regulation in Concordia. She has largely posed herself as a apolitical figure, though speaks confidently about what Public Security requires from Concordian city policy to continue ensuring the population's continued safety as effectively as possible. It seems that she mostly just wants to do her job to the best of her ability. Historically, she's been strongly anti-extremism in any format. Every statement associated with H+H1 has been to honestly decry their methods and an unwavering commitment to their arrest. There are traces of things left unsaid - a faint sense that she's omitting facts in almost every appearance -, but she's up until her appearance at the Royal Street vigil she's never outright lied about something. It's likely the faint miasma has to do with simply opting not to divulge every detail of a criminal investigation to the public.
The overall impression seems to be that she isn't obviously anti- or pro-synthetic rights, but that perhaps something to do with this recent string of attacks on the city has done something to alter her opinion. It's clear that there's something going on behind the scenes and she's not telling the whole truth (when she isn't outright telling a straight up lie). Maybe she found something out about the identities of the attackers that have her balking for the same reason that Ven Diagrams went quiet on their information hunt? Or maybe someone's finally figured out how to convince Ngozi to bend her principles. Either way, this seems to be a very recent development with a direct relationship to the warehouse and gaming parlor attacks.
ETA: Whoops. Missed the second half. GJ ME.
RE: VEN DIAGRAMS - One of the forerunners of the mental augment and data storage developers, Ven Diagrams is basically the Apple of Concordia. Yeah, there's the occasional dust up about Terms of Service, product development, but by and large the company has a largely clean track record. The consistent criticism is faces is its expansive use of androids in the workforce; Ven Diagrams is roughly 1:1 organic to synthetic and androids operate in a lot of capacities that once were positions maintained by organics. Roughly five years ago it led to a bunch of lay offs as Ven worked to trim their operating costs - meaning Ven Diagrams was worth/making significantly more profit, but at the expense of the local economy.
Which isn't to say the company's completely cut throat - Ahtaliah Ven and the company itself put a lot into Concordia in terms of philanthropy. They've founded at least two programs for developing engineers, back a number of scholarship programs for under privileged students, and pour a not insignificant amount of credits into public education like museums and non-profits. --That said...they also get a big tax break for doing so.
They also have had some disagreements with lawmakers and public security about the accessibility of personal data post-mortem, with Ven insisting on personal security following death and a refusal to make their data chips automatically compatible with PS's analysis software.

can sam bring it back online, what happens if he does, is there anything of note he should pick up on when hybriding around in it's neural net etc etc etc i'm assuming you guys are npcing him/her/them/it if/when beepboop wakes up? D:
also, just thought of something: how many people in concordia have tech wired into their brain pans and would sam be able to brain zap them with it hahaha? :'D THE THOUGHT JUST OCCURRED, I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE FUNNY. and useful. and rude.

Here is the team pursuing Y!
Ilde & Mara will be going in to try to peacefully lure some info out of her, and regardless of whether they succeed or not they've also got staggered layers of Sneaks. If they don't get what they want peacefully Ilde will probably pressure Aoba to get what she wants out of Y. Without any particular regret.
I found just OOCly chatting things out perfectly satisfying last time, so let's... do it....
no subject
If/when Ilde asks for Y, she'll have to give her name but will be eventually escorted (along with Mara) to one of Daylight's private rooms. The room is circular, primarily taken up by a made-to-fit rounded sofa and crescent shaped table. It's also completely dark save for the low light indicators on the edges of furniture, the bottle and glasses (just two) on the table and, of course, Y who glows a bright blue in the dark. She is alone.
And seems faintly annoyed but not surprised that Ilde didn't come by herself. On the plus side - "Your new manager is much prettier than your last one."

Also if we're planning for our character to maybe absolutely totally abuse their credit card, should we give you a head's up somewhere?

But those are just ideas! Do whatever you feel is most interesting/useful to you and feel free to use Murphy's identity in whatever capacity pleases you.
As for irresponsible credit card use: a heads up or small note would be awesome just so Prince can be disapproving but unless he's buying a private jet it probably won't be relevant to anyone on Concordia. (If he IS buying a jet....uh....... I mean good for you Murphy). tl;dr yeah a heads up would be rad but don't feel like you have to run any spending by us before you write it!

Alright, I have my groups together, here's how it shook out.
The plan is to send Mara and Ilde in first, and regardless of what they accomplish follow this hacker babe around. Should they get caught or any other issue happen well... They've got a backup for that too.
