Hello fellow Nestlings! Jen here with some plotting shenanigans that I would like to share with you all. How do you feel about lending your thoughts to a little BREAKING AND ENTERING?

Following Sam Alexander’s post about how Ngozi may be hiding something, Bruce has gotten it into his head that finding physical evidence might be the fastest way to seeing if this is true. Naturally, Mara Jade also wants in on the action, so what does that mean? It means that Bruce and Mara will be attempting to break into the Public Security HQ, and consequently, Ngozi’s office.

Obviously, this is a job that would be easier with a little help, and that’s where you guys come in. Though Bruce and Mara are both capable, there are tricky things like security and such that a few other hosts might be able to lend their talents to. Things such as:

creative ways of getting into the building at night (a rooftop starting point is likely)

stealthy ways of creating distractions and opportunities

ways to circumvent the security systems, whether it be via supernatural means/symbiote powers/canon powers/etc.

related to the above: powers related to mental manipulation, to either steer on-site security away or having them aid in the operation

If any of the above sounds like something your character might be able to do and would ICly be interested in signing up for, then let me know! While this is mostly going to be a stealthy operation, and therefore the manpower is going to be on the small side, I wanted to make sure everyone had the opportunity to volunteer their characters for a bit of subterfuge if they feel like they’d contribute.

And even if your character wants absolutely nothing to do with this insanity, feel free to share any input or suggestions you might have. The more brainstorming, the better! For those who want a more detailed read on the building itself and the security it may have, please direct yourself to this thread here.

EDIT: The team doing the actual breaking-in is full for the sake of staying stealthy, but there are still opportunities for distractions and the like if anyone is interested!

That said, he can assist from outside the building, so where stealthiness is concerned that might be an added bonus.

mara's main suggestions will be:

alt. ways to get in the building

• why don't we pose as security personnel / secretaries / cleaning staff and just walk right in?
• this is the commissioner's office, does this place have a detention center / cell / prison in it somewhere? let's get arrested

in general

• let's cause a ruckus elsewhere nearby and sneak in when people aren't paying attention to give us a boost
• let's make sure we're dressed as people who work there so if we DO get caught we have a more believable excuse

Grabbing a disguise and walking right in would be A+, except going in through the front doors they'll probably be pinged for their IDs. In which case they probably won't be wearing their earpieces, so I don't know if that'll set off a flag? (someone confirm?)

Getting arrested sounds amazing, I'd be down for that if we can figure out how they could get way with not being recognized/cause an alarm when someone realizes that they're not there anymore lol.

Also liking utilizing distractions (inside the building?) and disguises as people who work there. Someone sew them uniforms ok.

ICly tho she may have to approach him to offer to help; being broodmates, maybe she caught a thread of his plan through their link? regardless, this can also be handwaved if you like!

Lexa can help with sneaky good distractions outside of the building. Powers/capabilities-wise, she's no good, but she does have a lot of training with a warfare style that is really efficient guerrilla warfare. Plus, she's going to be dubious about them including so many people and will want to keep an eye on everyone because she's an asshole.

Haha actually that's pretty reasonable for her to be concerned about the size of the group, so yes, Lexa can definitely create distractions outside. I'm starting to think there may be a small outside group and inside group, anyway, so this could potentially work.

as long as these "distractions" don't involve seriously injuring someone, Bruce will allow her to judge everyone from afar yes

Sam went along on the last break in attempt that didn’t go so well, so he's a little skeptical here - but that probably won't stop him from offering to stealthily fly people up to/down from the rooftop if they decide on a rooftop entrance.

It's definitely an option to keep open, that and Sam would also provide a quick escape if they require it?

I am providing one (1) ace pilot dad in case there needs to be a getaway vehicle situation. Because his other skills are mostly brute-force based, and he's too dorito to be stealthy.

Pidge is on board for tech support and possibly breaking in with them so she can do an on-site crack of whatever computer systems they find.

She can also do distraction if needed!

Having tech support to deal with any security system issues they might have would be helpful, for sure. I need to verify with the mods that she would be able to trick any of the systems even though Bruce & co. wouldn't have any IDs on them for her to utilize (they won't be wearing earpieces, I believe), and that she'd be able to hack in without causing suspicion if they run into something that's particularly causing them trouble.

He’s going to be super subtly keeping an eye on Pidge, just in case

Sam worked with getting past security clearance at the Ven building, but those were non-government, private servers and he wouldn't get flagged for that + they weren't going to pick up on his weird AI brain through it. Given this is the gd public security building, he probably won't be willing to try it, but I think Pidge was up for it (ETA: and right after i posted this I saw that her player tossed her in, cool), and he'd probably recommend she handle it, tbh? Because her shenanigans will look human to the computers/AIs running them, and his will super super not.

on the chance that the security systems are run by a head AI like the Ven Diagrams systems, though, he might try to talk to it 8TTT and maybe trying to convince it to help them/not report them, etc. depending on what happens with this droid that showed up in the hatch log.

but either way, he'd definitely go along to back up Pidge or whoever else handles the security stuff.

Echoing the above sentiment w/ Pidge that tech support would take some of the pressure off of the team, though I would have to check with the mods to see exactly how strong the their network security is, to make sure hacking is something that wouldn't set off any alarms in the first place. (Or at least, not immediately, and with enough time for them to erase anything that could be traced back to them.) Especially whether or not the system is run by a head AI, I have no clue concerning that at all lmao.

ALSO LATE TO THE PARTY but Nathaniel here will gladly be Distraction Central and be obnoxious enough to draw attention, and he'll gladly use his parasite power of manipulating people to ward off people from the site!

Great! He can officially be part of the distraction party, and maybe using his manipulation powers to fend off any passerby's who may be growing suspicious? which i realize is basically what you just said, so! yes! perfect!

HIYOOO I don't know how helpful Hux could be but he's very strategic and also has SUPER EMPATHY powers so he could sense if anyone in particular nearby is getting nosy.

The distraction team will also double as a coordination-type team since they'll be more aware of what's happening outside than the hosts infiltrating, they can tell them to hurry the hell up if people are getting too suspicious, etc.
